Our first New Jersey native, Dr. Cardillo joined the Heart Center Medical Group in February, 1997. Dr. Cardillo joins us from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where he practiced in a large physician group operated by the Mayo Health System.

Dr. Cardillo received his Bachelor of Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey. He then moved on to the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, an affiliate of the Rutgers Medical School, in Camden, New Jersey. He remained in New Jersey for his internship and internal medicine residency, completing both at the Cooper Hospital/University Medical Center. Dr. Cardillo then crossed the river to Philadelphia and completed his fellowship in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at Hahnemann University.

Dr. Cardillo is board-certified in internal medicine and sleep medicine. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American College of Chest Physicians. Dr. Cardillo received the American College of Physicians Laureate Award in 1986. While in Wisconsin, he served as the Medical Director for Mayo One, the Mayo Clinic's trauma helicopter.

In addition to pulmonary and critical care medicine, Dr. Cardillo's interests also include interventional pulmonology and sleep disorders. Dr. Cardillo also is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Indiana University Medical School, where he teaches clinical medicine and pathology.

Dr. Cardillo's wife, Holliday, is from Fort Wayne and still has family in the area. The couple now live on the city's southwest side with their daughter.
